Since 1 October 2012, the Royal Commission of History helps realizing The bibliography of the History of Belgium (Bibliografie van de Geschiedenis van België / Bibliographie de l’Histoire de Belgique (BGB-BHB)), a research tool that offers a wide selection of titles of Belgian and foreign books and articles about the history of Belgium.
The initiative is the continuation of the bibliography published since 1953 in the Revue belge de Philologie et d’Histoire / Belgisch Tijdschrift voor Filologie en Geschiedenis (RBPH/BTFG) and authored until 2008 by a group of volunteers under the direction of Prof. dr. Romain Van Eenoo.
The current reference work is the fruit of the work of three partner organisations: the Royal Commission of History, the State Archives and the non-profit organisation Société pour le Progrès des Études Philologiques et Historiques (editor of RBPH/BTFG).
A printed version of each volume is published in Revue belge de Philologie et d’Histoire / Belgisch Tijdschrift voor Filologie en Geschiedenis. Furthermore, all volumes of the Bibliography of the History of Belgium (1953-2008) can be consulted, searched and downloaded as PDF files on the website of the journal.
Also, all title descriptions since volume 2009 are fed into the electronic data base Vubis of the National Archives.
Both the Bibliography of the History of Belgium and the catalogue of the State Archives can be consulted free of charge.
